Con una carrera televisiva indistinguible como guionista de películas y más conocido por crear el universo de "Star Trek", Gene Roddenberry honró a El Paso con su nacimiento en agosto de 1921. Después de mucho debate, quedó claro como comunidad que necesitábamos honrar a las estrellas. que una vez fueron fruto de esta tierra. En 2001, los funcionarios de nuestra ciudad aprobaron el cambio de lo que ahora conocemos como “El Planetario Gene Roddenberry”.

Equipado con el sistema de proyector DigiStar de última generación, el Roddenberry da paso a una experiencia de 360 grados para que sus visitantes se sumerjan. Este centro se utiliza principalmente con fines educativos dentro de nuestro distrito de EPISD y más allá, ofrece espectáculos públicos a nuestra comunidad los martes y miércoles con dos horarios disponibles para estos días.
